BACKGROUND
The Company, formerly known as Singmarine Shipyard (Private) Limited, was incorporated on 7 July 1970. A wholly-owned subsidiary of Keppel from July 1976, it was originally engaged in engineering and anchorage repair activities. It was converted to a public limited company on 8 July 1987 and changed its name to Singmarine Industries Ltd. In 1997, in a Group-wide corporate exercise, it changed its name to Keppel Marine Industries Limited.

In 1999, in a further consolidation of Keppel Group's marine business, the Company sold its marine-related business to Keppel Hitachi Zosen. It also divested its interests in Keppel's listed companies. Subsequently adopted the name K1 Ventures Limited on 27 July 2000. It is now an investment holding company.
